The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Updates the Auto Spare Parts Technical Regulation

On February 9, 2023, SASO held a webinar to introduce the updates that have been made to the Auto Spare Parts Technical Regulation.

Reasons driving the the update include:

  • Updating the standards in the Annex.
  • Reports received by SASO on practices that affect competitiveness in the vehicle sector.
  • The principle of not including any items that would hinder trade or affect the flow of commodities in the local markets.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Publishes the Technical Regulation for Machinery Safety - Part 4: Sawing and Cutting Machines

On February 17, 2023, SASO published the Technical Regulation for Machinery Safety - Part 4: Sawing and Cutting Machines in the official gazette. Currently only the Arabic version is available.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for Skip Hop Silver Lining Cloud Activity Gyms

On February 26, 2023, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for Skip Hop's Silver Lining Cloud Activity Gyms due to possible detachment of parts that could lead to a choking hazard. Consumers are instructed to immediately remove the cloud game from the product and contact the company for a free replacement.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Commerce Issues Recall for LG TV Model #'s 86UQ90006LC and 86NANO796QA

On February 6, 2023, the KSA Ministry of Commerce issued a recall for LG TV Model #'s 86UQ90006LC and 86NANO796QA due to possible improper installation of the legs of the bracket for the TV which could result in the TV tipping over and causing injury. Consumers are instructed to separate the legs of the support and put the TV in a safe place away from children. Consumers should then contact the company to arrange an appointment for a certified technician to examine the parts and provide free replacements if needed.
