SASO announced the following improvements to the SABER platform:

• Registration can now be done in three (3) steps.
• The Energy Efficiency Label System has been integrated with the IECEE certificate on the SABER platform. This will allow the system to extract the trademark and licensed models from the energy efficiency labeling system when registering for the IECEE certificate. IECEE certificates that were issued before the integration will receive an alert message to add models to the IECEE certificate before including them in the certificate of shipment conformity.
• Added new payment methods in addition to the previous payment method (SADDAD) such as VISA, MasterCard, Mada and Apple Pay.

SASO announced that it will allow the use of SASO GSO IEC-60950-1:2012, SASO IEC-60065:2020 and SASO IEC-62368-1:2017 until June 30, 2021. Beginning July 1, 2021 SASO will only accept SASO IEC-62368-1:2020. Any SASO IECEE certificate issued between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 will be valid for one (1) year.

Previously, SASO announced that it would extend the validity period of energy efficiency (EER) test reports for certain related products to five (5) years. Beginning in January 2021, products affected by this exemption will need to revert to the original test report validity period.

Test Report Validity for all EER Products

On February 2, 2021, SASO released a cicular regarding the Water Rationalization Tools Technical Regulation (TR). This notice is a reminder that Certification Bodies are allowed to issue product certificates of conformity (PCoCs) to the previous version of the technical regulation up to February 14, 2021.

On February 17, 2021, SASO announced that certification bodies (CBs) are restricted from issuing product certificates of conformity (PCOCs) for tanks used for the transport of petroleum products. SASO is the only entity that can issue COCs for these products. This change impacts the following technical regulations:

• Technical Regulation for Tanks - Part 1: Tanks for the Transport of Petroleum Products
• Technical Regulation for Front & Rear and Side Barriers for Trucks and Trailers
• Technical Regulation for Trailers and Semi-Trailers
