The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Issues an Announcement for Food Safety of Tools and Appliances Used in the Kitchen
On September 9, 2021, SASO issued a reminder that Conformity Bodies are not allowed to issue any Product Certificates for food contact tools and devices that contain Asbestos. Suppliers must submit a DOC (Declaration of Conformity) to demonstrate that this substance is not present in their products.
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Issues an Announcement for Non-Medical Face Masks
On September 28, 2021, SASO issued a circular announcing a new HS Code has been added to the listed HS Codes for Non-Medical Face Masks: 630790990000. SASO also included a reminder that the Importer Product Declaration is required prior to the issuance of a Shipment Certificate (SC).
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Releases National Amendments to SASO 2815:2021 Standard
On September 29, 2021, SASO held a webinar to review the adoption of Saudi Standard 2815:2021 - Safety Requirements for Cord Extension Sets - 230V/12A. This standard replaces and supercedes SASO 2815:2010.
The objectives of the new standard are to:
- Increase the safety level for extension cords
- Amend the voltage used in the previous SASO Standard
- Continuous development of the SASO Standards
- Harmonization of SASO Standards with International Standards
